From May 2016 to April 2019 I was on the Drama Development Team for CBBC in-house productions. We source and develop the next wave of drama, comedy and animation for the CBBC audience.

In 2014 I storylined CBBC's exciting kid's sci fi Soap WORLD'S END. A group of teens from different backgrounds find themselves thrown together in the daunting World's End Castle, where nothing is as it seems. The teens face life and death decisions slammed up against their everyday dilemmas as they battle to unearth the secret of the World's End. World's End aired 36 eps from March to May 2015. EMMERDALE (ITV)

Picture
I storylined Emmerdale from 2009-2015 (episodes screening until May 2016). I have contributed to the development of all the major stories on the show over the past six years including the award winning 'Jackson's Choice' assisted suicide storyline; Aaron coming out; 'Vengeance Day' for Cain; Emmerdale's 40th anniversary live show; Killer Cameron and the Woolpack Siege; Laurel's descent into alcoholism; the highly acclaimed 'Summer Fate' week, the 'Who Shot Robert' drama and Ashley's struggle with early onset dementia. On a lighter note I was also responsible for 'Little Miss Yorkshire', the Valerie Pollard Foundation, Bernice shagging Santa and a fish called Jesus... Emmerdale was the proud recipient of the 2011 and 2016 Broadcast award for continuing drama, the 2016 RTS award for continuing drama, the 2012 Soap Awards 'Best Storyline' award, the 2013 and 2015 Best Soap award at the Inside Soap awards and Best Soap at the 2016 Soap Awards. In six years I storylined 1919 episodes...

CORONATION STREET (ITV)

Picture
I returned to Coronation for a brief Covid cover at the start of 2021!

I was an integral part of the story team from 2003-2006, responsible for helping to develop groundbreaking stories such as the gay love triangle; hugely dramatic stories such as Mad Maya, the Baldwins/Mike's Alzheimer's, Killer Katy and the Barlows/McDonalds; and lighter classic Corrie comedy such as Ian McKellan's guest appearance as fraudster Mel Hutchwright. During this time Corrie won numerous awards including two BAFTAS and the RTS award.

Through 2008/2009 I returned on a freelance basis to Corrie as a Story Associate helping to develop the Tony Gordon/Liam murder, Peter Barlow's alcoholism and Steve and Becky's relationship. Once more Corrie picked up a fair few awards for this period including the RTS award. In my two stints I storylined over 700 episodes.

HOLLYOAKS (Channel 4)

Picture
I popped over to Hollyoaks a few times during 2008 to do some freelance cover storylining. I worked on stories for the McQueens, Tony, the Valentines, the Ashworths and the Barnes.

READING AND DEVELOPMENT

I have also worked extensively as a script reader for ITV, looking to identify projects to develop and new writers to keep an eye on.
