HeckmondFRIGHT
Spen Valley Sparrows from C M Hall on Vimeo. |
A snippet of Pathe newsreel of King George V and Queen Mary's 1918 visit to Heckmondwike that was incorporated in the show. It involved the defeat of the Cleckheaton Vampire by the angelic singing of the Spen Valley Sparrows, who sadly were no match for Heckmondwike's 'Whistler in the Well' at whose hands they met an unpleasant fate (in the live show).

YAN TAHN TEDDERA
![]() Commissioned by Eden Arts to be the centrepiece of the Penrith Winter Droving Festival 2013. The film was shown on a huge screen in the town square with live voiceover/music (performer Bill Lloyd). Our cast led the Winter Droving Procession around the town and into the heart of Penrith for the celebrations.
A young man distances himself from his heritage as he struggles with bereavement. It takes an adventure with a persistent chicken, fireside fraudsters, a magic tally stick and new love to bring him home to where he belongs. Yan Tahn Teddera was filmed in the Lake District over only a few days with an amazingly resourceful team, a flock of sheep, chickens, a horse and cart and 250 geese. In this cut the voiceover is the one used for the live event. Produced and directed by Tom Lloyd at Dreamtime Film www.dreamtimefilm.co.uk Yan Tan Teddera from Dreamtime Film on Vimeo. |
TROUPE in THE BALLAD OF LUCKY B'STARD
![]() Filmed at Bestival 2013 using the entire site as a pop up film set, TROUPE is a piece of Carnival mayhem incorporating set pieces, street theatre and making the most of the surrounding environment. It was an experimental guerilla style piece that worked to a basic storyline, seeing what shots and sequences could be filmed throughout the Bestival weekend. The footage was pieced together, edited and the original voice over rewritten to fit the cut. The filming of the project itself was an event and the rushes were projected every night in the extraordinary Caravanserai field. So filming served a number of purposes as an interactive live event, a backdrop to night time entertainment in Caravanserai and our bonkers short film.
Since the demise of Troupe’s Lucky B’Stard, their confidence trickster 75 years ago, the timeless band of roaming Carnival characters have had a hole in their heart – but it’s time to recruit a new member for a life of Carnival chaos. They’re looking to feed the hungry hole in their heart – will it be with you? THE PROMISE
THE PROMISE (2007) is a 3 min avant garde short which was the brainchild of director Luke Losey. I was brought on board to add the voice to a haunting image. THE PROMISE has played at the Hamburg Film Festival, the Ann Arbor Festival, the Regensburger Festival, Cirtocircuito, Clermont Ferrand and Britspotting.
In an age where the viewer can watch public executions online, ordinary slaughter and routine atrocity make us numb to the pain of human beings. THE PROMISE looks at this final moment from the victim's perspective.
